Mixed practice in Speyside looking for an experienced veterinary surgeon.

We can be flexible with various options to suit the right candidate.

A traditional full-time mixed practice vet would be lovely, but equally we’d be pleased to hear from someone keen to discuss a part time option (be that one or two days a week or perhaps one short stint a month). We could provide private accommodation for a locum looking for regular work (either through an agency or by joining us on a zero hours contract).

We are a genuinely mixed practice, but a species preference could likely be accommodated as long as the candidate was willing to participate in
a mixed out of hours rota (possibilities as to species preference and degree of out of hours commitment could be discussed, but we always have two vets on call with time off in lieu for full time staff).

The exception to this could be someone with a particular interest in equine den-tistry – we could discuss a part time role for a purely equine vet out with the rota.

We’d love to hear from anyone with ideas as to how they could contribute to a mixed practice in a less ‘conventional’ way.

We’re a friendly bunch with a range of experience, keen on case discussion and team support. Whilst we have a true mix of work (50% small animal, 30% large – though no dairy - and 20% equine), we encourage further development in specific areas of interest to provide a better service to our clients and maximise career satisfaction for our staff. For example we have an equine certificate holder, and small animal surgeons who undertake a lot of our own orthopaedic work at our thriving dedicated small animal surgery.  We’re keen to invest in the right equip-ment to help us do our job to the best standard we can, e.g. dental xrays, cattle tipping crate and equine DR equipment.

Everyone’s ideas and opinions on how to progress the practice are valued, and we have regular Friday morning clinical chats to encourage open discussion.

Salary 35-60k commensurate with experience and (more importantly) contribution to the practice.
