The Role
We have an exciting opportunity for a dedicated Equine Veterinary Surgeon to join our first opinion team at Churchfield Vets. The role
would suit an organised, self-motivated progressive team player with equine practice experience who wants to fully commit to equine work. Our equine sector is both ambulatory and clinic-based, and as well as routine equine work, the practice workload includes lameness investi-gations, internal medicine investigations, elective surgery, dentistry,
and reproductive procedures.
We are a BEVA-Approved AI Centre for both chilled and frozen semen.
- 4.5-day week
- 1:4 rota on call nights and weekends for equine cases only with one extra-long weekend free every fourth week
About Us
We are an equine and small animal practice in South Yorkshire with
good access to motorways and the Peak District. The area boasts an abundance of leisure activities. Our equine centre is situated at Hoylandswaine between Sheffield, Doncaster, Huddersfield, and the Pennines We have a knock-down room and surgical suite, stables, an indoor trot-up and lunging area, an outdoor ménage, and paddocks.
Our equine team includes three equine vets and one mixed equine/small animal vet, and three equine groom/veterinary assistants. Additional support and laboratory services are supplied by staff at our adminis-trative and small animal centre in Barnsley, which is three miles away from the equine centre.
Equine equipment includes portable DR and static CR X-ray units, ultrasound scanners, endoscopes, motorised dental equipment, ESWT (Shockwave) and we have organised client-days for gastroscopy and sarcoid laser surgery. We have an exceptional client care policy, friendly staff, and veterinary support. We believe in discussing problem cases, and we have regular equine meetings for this purpose. Applicant Requirements
We are looking for an enthusiastic, friendly, organised, and self-motivated team player with equine practice experience. Good communi-cation skills are essential. Abilities welcomed and encouraged in all areas of first opinion equine practice. There is the ability to follow-up ambulatory cases at our equine centre. We would encourage develop-ment of your own ambitious interest, and future certification, if desired.
