August/September start

Towcester Veterinary Centre is a mixed practice located over 4 sites within and around the historic town of Towcester, Northamptonshire.
We are RCVS accredited, independent, and our vets have served local farmers for over a century! We started as a single vet practice and have grown to the team of 24 we have today, 7 of whom form the dedicated farm team. Each of our vets understands that the treatment and advice we give to clients will directly affect their livelihood - we aim for gold-standard care and strive to deliver a personal service tailored to the individual needs of each farm.

We have a substantial and growing client base located in Northamp-tonshire, Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire, Bedfordshire, Warwickshire and beyond - predominantly beef and sheep, plus a few dairy farms, camelids and smallholders. Every day brings new opportunities to challenge your skills and provide benefit to help support the demands of modern farming through both preventative and emergency care. When restric-tions are lifted, we will resume our farmer training events and you will have the opportunity to get involved with these also.

We are looking for a vet with experience or a strong interest in ruminant/farm animals to join the Practice on a fixed term contract to cover maternity absence. There is a possibility that the position may become permanent, and we are happy to consider experienced vets or new graduates. We have a supportive environment where your professional development is actively encouraged, and colleagues are keen to share their knowledge and discuss best practice advice so that the whole team can continually improve. Our facilities include an in-house lab, hospitalisation and surgical facilities, ultrasound scanners and mobile radiography. Although we employ a dedicated TB tester the role will involve some testing shared among the rest of the team.

The successful candidate must be able to work individually and within our existing team, embodying the friendly and straightforward approach our clients have come to expect. Good communication skills will be key, as you will be constantly liaising with clients and colleagues – not only other vets but also our support teams based in clinic. We hope to find someone proactive with a positive attitude, enthusiastic and resilient - we work in a challenging but ultimately rewarding industry, and we look forward to welcoming you to our part of it!

We offer a competitive salary and benefits including BUPA, RCVS fees paid and staff discount. A vehicle is not supplied but business mileage is paid.  The position is full time and will involve regular out-of-hours duties.

To be considered for this vacancy please submit your CV plus a covering letter outlining why you are interested in joining our Practice, and your preferred start date to Sue Adams, HR Manager, via the apply button.

You will need to provide proof of RCVS membership and your right to work in the UK.
