Job Details

We’re a community of passionate veterinary professionals committed to providing truly exceptional care. We’re set on building something extraordinary: creating the most forward-thinking and innovative place in the veterinary industry.

We’re always looking for people who aspire to stand out in their field, and it’s this vision and enthusiasm that forms the foundation of how we work.

Our mission to deliver progressive, around the clock care means our employees have the very best equipment and treatment options available, including in-house MRI machines and state-of-the-art operating theatres.

We provide ongoing support to our teams, both in practice and through our dedicated training centre. This empowers you to get the very best from our advanced equipment while being on your journey to veterinary excellence.

The role:

We are seeking a Veterinary Surgeon to join our team at our Wantage practice.

The ideal candidate should be confident, with 2 years' small animal veterinary experience.

You must have a client-oriented approach and excellent communication skills, work to a very high standard both medically and surgically and have the drive and ambition to help develop these branches further.

The successful candidate will be working in an environment where colleagues support you, by sharing skills and knowledge to give our patients the best outcomes. You will experience a varied caseload at each of our lovely practices.

This role covers 39 hours over a 4 day week, providing a great work life balance. This includes 1:3 half weekends (Saturdays/Sundays) or 1:6 full weekends.

Salary & Benefits:

A very competitive package of up to £50,000 per annum (depending on experience), which includes accommodation allowance and a vehicle or vehicle allowance

£1,500 CPD allowance with 3 days CPD leave, and in-house CPD training

VDS, RCVS, BVA fees paid

5 weeks annual leave plus bank holidays

Fantastic career progression and partnership opportunities

Colleague of the month awards, Hills staff feeding schemes, plus many more benefits available!

Skills and experience:

You must be a Veterinary Surgeon registered with the RCVS.

Branch:

Due to increased work load we are looking for a 4th vet to increase our team at Wantage. We're a kind, caring and close knit team that look after each other here. We hold ourselves to very high ethical and clinical standards, whilst still being professional, we also like to have a laugh.

You would be working alongside another three experienced vets (one with a medicine certificate) and an amazing nursing team. The practice is a beautiful listed building - converted old dairy, and is light and spacious with sheep grazing in the adjacent field most of the year.

Medivet in Wantage has been awarded a Silver Standard Cat-Friendly Clinic Award from the International Society of Feline Medicine (ISFM). This was in recognition of its efforts to create a cat-friendly practice and to reduce the stress suffered by feline patients during a visit.

Part-time candidates will also be considered for this position.
