Since 1923, Aviagen® has been a preferred global poultry breeding company with a mission to help its customers -- the world’s chicken meat producers -- supply sustainable, affordable and nutritious protein to their growing communities. Putting into practice its corporate value of “Breeding Sustainability,” Aviagen implements efficiencies that make commercial chicken production environmentally and socially responsible and economically beneficial to producers, while at the same time promoting bird performance, health and welfare.

To meet varied market demands, Aviagen offers a full portfolio of breeding stock under the Arbor Acres®, Indian River® and Ross® brand names. The Rowan Range® and Specialty Males® target slower-growing and other niche market needs. Aviagen is based in Huntsville, Alabama, US., with operations across the UK, Europe, Turkey, Latin America, India, Australia, New Zealand, Africa and the US, and joint ventures in Asia. The company employs close to 8,000 people, and serves customers in 100 countries.

We have an opportunity for a qualified veterinarian with responsibility for providing proactive advice on the health of our multi generation internal stock in our farming and hatchery facilities and ensuring compliance with export health certification procedures in liaison with OV’s and relevant government departments.  You will also provide technical veterinary advice to customers in the UK and overseas, supporting them to ensure optimum performance of Aviagen products.  You will liaise with government organisations and other parts of the UK and European poultry industry and scientific community.

You will be a MRCVS with a genuine interest in poultry health and welfare, backed by  a mix of formal qualifications and practical experience in poultry veterinary medicine. Applications from outstanding individuals but with little practical experience as a poultry specialist will be considered. The ability to influence colleagues and customers through excellent written and verbal communication skills is necessary.  Fluency in English is essential and competence in a second European language would be an advantage.  You must be authorised to work in the UK.

We can offer excellent long term career opportunities, together with a competitive salary, benefits package and relocation assistance if appropriate.

To be part of this exciting team within a successful, growing, global business, please send your CV to careersww@aviagen.com.

Closing date for applications:  30 April 2021
