Senior Veterinary Surgeon required at Abbeydale Vets, Blackburn

The Role  

An opportunity has arisen for a skilled and enthusiastic Veterinary Surgeon to join Abbeydale Vets. In addition to your excellent communi-cation and clinical skills you will need to be a people-oriented person, who is willing to support and guide your colleagues.

You will be joining our well established and progressive small animal practice.

The role will involve daily consulting and operating. You will be providing high quality clinical care to all pets and an outstanding client experience.

We have a great rota, which offers a fantastic work-life balance:

  • 4-day week
  • 1:4 Saturday rota
  • No OOHs

About Us

Abbeydale Vets are a "family orientated practice" that works well together. We all support each other and aspire to provide the highest standards. We are 100% small animal with a varied caseload. We have great facilities including K-Laser, ultrasound, in-house haematology and biochemistry, digital radiography (including dental radiography).

Abbeydale Vets is located in Blackburn which has great commuting links to Manchester, Liverpool, The Lake District and The Yorkshire Dales. Blackburn has three local theatres with live music, comedy and drama. There is also a Museum and Art Gallery locally too. Blackburn is surrounded by plenty of places for the outdoor enthusiast, with the West Pennine moors to the Leeds and Liverpool canal, and numerous hiking and cycling trails.

We have a fantastic team over the two surgeries. 5 Vets, 6 qualified Nurses, 2 ANA, 2 student Nurses and we also have 8 experienced Support staff. Our new Clinical Director has a Pg Cert (Diagnostic Imaging) and we also have a Veterinary Surgeon with a keen interest in exotics.

We are a close team who discuss cases and support each other personally and professionally. We are lucky to be a well-established practice, at the heart of the community, with many loyal, bonded clients.

We understand that considering new opportunities is a big decision and we do have team members who are more than happy to have informal chats with you, should you wish.

Applicant Requirements

We are looking for a skilled and enthusiastic Vet Surgeon, with excellent communication and clinical skills. You will be comfortable with all routine and first opinion procedures. You will be keen to look after and work up your own cases. You will be a good team player with a great sense of humour. Your passion will lie in developing not only your own skills, but those of your colleagues. You will be keen to mentor and support others too.
