About the role and our team

Are you looking for a role where you can be committed to ensuring the highest standards of animal welfare?

We are looking for a qualified and experienced veterinarian to join, lead and develop the Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture’s Animal Health Team. Using your engaging and passionate leadership you and your team will work to maintain and safeguard the Isle of Man’s ability to trade agricultural products with the UK, EU and the rest of the world.

You will play an active role in the Isle of Man’s strong farming community in a very rural and beautiful setting. Working closely with many stakeholders, you will utilise your extensive knowledge and experience to provide sound advice and guidance on animal health and welfare as well as veterinary public health.

It’s an exciting time to join our small but dedicated, friendly and supportive team as we work towards developing new legislation to ensure and protect the welfare of all animals on the Isle of Man. You will have a key responsibility to provide input to this legislation and steering political members, senior staff and other Government teams in the production of these regulations.

What can this role offer me?

Development is important to us, you will be actively encouraged to self-develop by attending courses provided by our excellent in-house Learning, Education and Development facility. We will support you to attend conferences and forums as well as considering any other personal development requests you may have, including professional qualifications.

You will work at Thie Slieau Whallian which is the award winning, eco-friendly home of the Department. Here, you will enjoy working in scenic surroundings, free car parking and excellent staff facilities.

If working flexibly is important to you, you’ll be happy to know we operate a flexi-time system making it easier to reclaim any additional hours worked and to fit your other commitments around your work life.
