Veterinary Surgeon – Willenhall, West Midlands
Despite COVID our practice is very much on the front foot, expanding and with exciting prospects. We moved from our old Willenhall site August last year, and since our relocation we have seen a significant expansion both in our client base and staff numbers.
Willenhall is located not far from Junction 10 of the M6, the cities of Birmingham and Wolverhampton are nearby. On the other hand, the countryside of South Staffordshire is only a 10-minute drive away and Cannock Chase and Sutton Park are local areas of outstanding natural beauty.
Cavan Vets has 2 sites the other being in Wolverhampton, and between these sites we have 7 vets both full and part time. Four of our vets are working towards certificates; ophthalmology, surgery and imaging, three of them being based at the Willenhall site. We have a good level of equipment including a digital X-ray, a modern ultrasound scanner, in house biochemistry and haematology, a slit lamp bio-microscope, tonometer, digital retinal camera, indirect headset and surgical loupes.
Candidate and Package
The post is a new one, would certainly suit a certificate holder (we would consider any discipline), someone who aspires towards obtaining one, or indeed anyone enthusiastic and passionate about what they do. We are also open to invest in appropriate equipment to allow our vets to expand their skills. We have a good camaraderie among both vets and nurses with low staff turnover and a supportive atmosphere. We need a colleague with experience as the clinic is often busy.
Working hours are Monday-Friday 9-7, Saturdays’ 9-2, with no Sundays or on call. There is a degree of flexibility in annual leave, hours worked and in terms of the Saturday rota ratio. A four-day week would fit in with our current rota well.
We are able to offer generous packages. Our aim is to recruit and retain the right people.
