Are you an experienced farm animal/food chain vet?

Do you have a passion for British livestock farming and want to help shape animal health and welfare policy from the very heart of our industry?

About the role

We’re looking to expand the technical depth of the NFU’s Animal Health and Welfare Team enabling us to shape a new Animal Health and Welfare Pathway, maintaining leadership around the responsible use of veterinary medicines and galvanising our objective improvement of farm animal welfare through productivity gains and supply chain standards.

For this, we need a veterinary surgeon with at least 3 years of farm practise or working in a public health or animal welfare role in the supply chain, strong political and supply chain awareness and a desire to put your applied veterinary science knowledge to good use.

There will also be the opportunity in the future to guide and mentor a veterinary graduate or student placement on an annual basis.

This full time, permanent role is based in the NFU’s Head Office in Warwickshire, although in response to Covid-19, HQ staff are all home-working.

Who we are?

The National Farmers’ Union (England & Wales) is the leading voice of British farming, representing 55,000 farmer and grower members across England and Wales, with an additional 20,000 NFU Countryside members with an interest in farming and rural life. On their behalf we lobby govern-ment and other stakeholders, develop policy and provide a range of frontline services.

Why join our team?

Working for the NFU means working alongside great people, who are recognised for their knowledge and expertise and who will invest in your development. Benefits include 25 days annual leave (plus statutory bank holidays), National Employment Savings Trust pension scheme, a performance related pay award scheme, a range of discounts through our NFU Benefits employee portal and subsidised staff restaurant.
