Equine Veterinary Surgeon Required for Maternity Cover - Strathaven
We are looking for an Equine Veterinary Surgeon to provide maternity cover for one of our team. We are a team of three full-time equine only Veterinary Surgeons (1 certificate holder) within a larger mixed practice. We have a 4.5 day working week with an OOH rota equally shared of 1:3 weeknights and 1:4 weekends. This is a primarily ambulatory role but with purpose built inpatient facilities. Our clients are mostly pleasure horse owners with some competition horse work and we are committed to providing a high-quality personal service to them.
We are a small friendly team based in the Lanarkshire countryside but close to Glasgow. We have the usual toys - digital radiography system, modern ultrasound, upper respiratory scope and gastroscope, all of which can be used in an ambulatory setting or within the clinic, which has 5 stables, stocks, hard trot-up and hard and soft lunge areas.
Experience is required for this role as you will be required to slot into the place of our assistant who is going off on maternity leave although there will be scope to overlap with her prior to this. Must be confident with all aspects of ambulatory general practice although support is available from certificate holder. Holding or working towards a certificate would be advantageous as would having a specific area of clinical interest.
Although this is a temporary position initially, as we are a growing practice, there is very much the possibility of this becoming a permanent position for the right candidate. The assistant you would be replacing is happy to speak to any potential applicants!
