Our New Graduate Programme
The George Veterinary Group provides opportunities annually across
four species departments for new graduates who will benefit in a large independent veterinary practice with group benefits. We will enable you to become the high-quality vet you want to be - clinically confident, a good decision maker and a team player in veterinary medicine.
As a new graduate at our independent practice, you will be working directly with the practice owners and decision makers who can respond quickly and flexibly to your individual situation. Our programme provides the resource and support to ensure you develop your clinical skills, gain the confidence and trust of your clients, and grow your area of competence for the rest of your career.
Whether you are looking to focus on small animal, equine, farm or pigs we have a programme which is bespoke to you and your discipline, with your own experienced mentor. You will benefit from the support of your team and, furthermore, our own intern group and young vet network.
Our small animal veterinary hospital delivers all the modern facilities and toys you would expect and benefitted further from a new theatre exten-sion and refurbishment throughout in 2017. Supported by a clinical team, more than 30-strong, our interns gain exposure to a wide caseload during their first year and work solely at the hospital – we never send our new graduates off to work as the sole vet in any branch. With nearly half of our team of 14 vets having started their veterinary career as a new graduate on our programme, there is a wealth of valuable experience within the team to ensuring two interns this year will get the very best support in their first role.
For those interested in livestock, there are up to two opportunities
with The George Farm Vets which covers farms throughout Wiltshire, Gloucestershire and Bristol. Our farm team of 18 vets (5 certificate holders), 3 administrators and 3 pharmacy staff has opportunities for new graduates to join us in August. We have developed a bespoke new graduate programme that gives time, mentoring, expertise, experience, and a huge amount of guided support with regular reviews to those who enjoy the great outdoors.
There is also a great wealth of experience with certificate and diploma holders within our Equine Clinic and Pig Practice teams, both also offering bespoke programmes, from late summer 2021. For all ambula-tory roles we provide all the necessary tools to support you on visits, including a vehicle.
We are committed to our new graduates and to the majority we are able a permanent role on completion of their first year. We employ over 40 vets and many of these have joined us through the New Graduate Intern Programme. You can find out more by visiting our website on the “Join Our Team” page to find testimonials from current and former graduates across every clinical department and more about the benefits of starting your veterinary career with The George.
