Full or Part Time Small Animal Vet - 12 month contract open to new graduates
Our client who is located just 30 mins from Newcastle are looking for two Small Animal Vets to join their team on 12-month fixed contracts.
Due to two valued team members going on maternity leave in spring 2021, the practice are looking for two vets on a full or part time 12 month contract basis. The clinic is based just near Newcastle and Durham and are in the perfect location, for whatever outdoor activity you would like to persue in your time off. The local area has affordable house and rental prices and excellent commuter links, with the airport and the A1 close by.
The practice could welcome applications from new or recent graduate candidates, as they have lots of experience supporting and mentor newly qualified vets. As a hospital environment they are also able to offer a varied caseload with broad exposure and would also be keen to hear from experienced candidates. If you are wanting a surgical position with lots of operating, they have a high surgical caseload and laproscopic kit, which they are happy to train staff, if they would like to gain this knowledge. They work up the vast majority of cases in house, have multi-parameter anaesthetic monitoring in both theatres as well as dental x-ray, endoscopy and tonometry. The practice has behaviour certificate holders, a very experienced RVN team and are a nurse training practice.
Due to size and experience of the team, the practice as able to take full or part time applications with hours to suit the candidate. That being said, the ideal would be anything from 25 hours per week, up to full time. Full time roles are to work a 4 day and include some weekends on a rota. Weekends are on a 1:7, with time off in lieu and 1:7 Saturdays – consulting only 9am – 3pm. The practice provides their own on-call until 10pm and patients are looked after by a nurse on site overnight. This provides great case continuity and is one of the many reasons that the practice has a large number of bonded clients. A number of the team came to the practice a new graduate and have never left, demonstrating that this a a friendly and supportive place to work.
