Job Details

Our client is who an independent small animal practice just 30 minutes from Edinburgh, is looking for an experienced vet to join their team.

The client is a truly independent group of three practices who are looking for a vet with at least 5 years UK in practice experience. You must be confident, calm, lead by example and be happy to mentor less experienced team members. This does not mean that the team is all new graduates and have a range of experience from 2.5 years upwards, but you will be replacing a very experienced team member who is retiring. This is not a senior role as such but a general GP vet role, for someone who has gained enough experience that they can settle into a team and provide first class service, to the practice clients and their pets. You will be joining a team of 11 Vets, 15 RVN’s, a Practice Manager and additional support staff.

The 3 sites are close to each other all within 15 minutes’ drive, so you must be able to drive provide flexible coverage, but you will be mainly based at one site the majority of the time. Facilities include digital x-ray, ultrasound, in house lab and is a nursing training practice. The practice also has a orthopaedic specialist, who visits once a month to take care of all their procedures. Vets at the practice are currently studying towards their certificate in Medicine and another is completing a GP Cert. With this in mind the client is keen to hear from vets who are wanting to start a certificate.

This is a full-time position working 4 days, 40 hours per week. The practice opens from 9am – 6.30pm. Weekends are on a 2:6 covering Saturdays only 9am – 4pm. There are no OOH’s with this role as this is permanently covered but a RVN but you would be on a 1:14 second on call rota but in the last two years a vet has only be called twice so this is minimal.
