About the job Summary

The FSA is a non-ministerial department of over 1300 people, with a big vision – to drive change in the food system so that it delivers “food we can trust”. More than 90% of food and feed law in the UK currently comes from Europe and our primary goal is to continue to protect public health and UK consumers’ wider interest in food. As we have now exited the EU the FSA faces a significant period of change and activity.

An exciting opportunity has arisen as part of the Operational Policy and Delivery Team as the team expands as a result of additional workload.

We ensure the delivery of official controls across a range of food and feed businesses, as well as ensuring the recognition of NI interests in the development of FSA legislation and policies relating to food and feed official controls and imports/exports in Northern Ireland.

This post will support development and delivery of policy initiatives across a wide range of work areas, securing cooperation within the team and with internal and external stakeholders.

Job description

The successful candidate will be joining a dynamic and dedicated team of professional and dedicated colleagues who using their expertise and influence strive to make a positive difference for our citizens in Northern Ireland, as we are truly committed to improving food and animal feed safety, and protecting the health of the population in relation to food.

We are looking for a veterinarian with knowledge of the food law and its implementation, and the delivery of official controls in Northern Ireland, adaptable and able to work effectively with team members and stakeholders with good communication and decision making skills.
