Full time fixed term contract

World Horse Welfare is an international charity that improves the lives of horses in the UK and around the world through care, research, education and influence.

This is an exciting maternity cover role to help drive World Horse Welfare’s research and educational activities. Ideally full-time (but part-time considered), this role is part of the charity’s Communications and Public Affairs team and works across the charity and with external
stakeholders to advance the charity’s campaigns, educational initiatives and policies on equines no matter their role in society. This role would suit someone with an equine veterinary background with outstanding communications and organisational skills.

The role is offered on an initial 6-month fixed term basis and is based within our head office in Norfolk, but there is flexibility and opportunities for home working subject to agreement.

You will be responsible for sourcing information from research and literature to evidence positions and advice around equine welfare including within leisure, sport, work and production. You will be required to work alongside others inside and outside of the charity to develop research and the evidence base that will enable World Horse Welfare to inform its campaigns and educational initiatives. The role involves the planning and direction of projects, including field investigations and
research in Europe to collect evidence on the welfare impacts of long-distance transport of horses across Europe for slaughter. You will work alongside the UK Welfare and Communications teams to produce new and updated educational materials including webpages, videos, leaflets, blogs and emails.

World Horse Welfare takes great pride in being realistic, compassionate and forward-thinking and the successful applicant will be expected to share these values.
