About Us

Border Vets is a mixed dairy, beef & sheep commercial farm practice with lowland, upland and hill units in the beautiful North Cumbria / Dumfriesshire borders. Eden Vets is a dedicated companion animal practice, easily accessible to the Lake District, North Pennines and Scottish Borders. We are a a 7 Vet and 4 Nurse team with great support staff. We manage our own call and have a residential on-call nurse.

The Role

We require an Experienced Mixed Vet who will take an equal share in a 1:4 on call rota. They should have dairy, beef, sheep and companion animal experience and be competent in most common surgical procedures. The successful applicant would be expected to participate in organising farmer meetings (e.g. Flock Health Club). There would be plenty of scope to develop own interests. An aspiration to taking a leadership role would be an advantage. An interest in SA orthopaedics or dermatology would also be advantageous.

Applicant Requirements

Driving Licence, OV Essential skills & Tuberculin Testing. Ideally also General Export, Ungulate Export and Companion Animal export. Candidate should be comfortable with Bovine & Ovine Caesarian section, Bovine LDA, Cleat removal, Fertility visits & Mastitis investigations. Herd & Flock health planning. They should also be comfortable with 1st opinion equine work. Companion Animal emergency care. Interests in a specific discipline would be encouraged. Particularly SA orthopaedics or dermatology. Familiarity of semen evaluation in the Bull and Ram would also be advantageous.
