VetFinders are recruiting for our client in Lanarkshire, Scotland, for an experienced small animal veterinary surgeon, with immediate effect. This opportunity has arisen as the group is expanding and growing rapidly.

About the practice:

The practice is a forward-thinking, established, hospital-status practice with an excellent reputation within the community.  It is a 4-site mixed veterinary practice with three small animal practices (Lanark, Wishaw and Lesmahagow). The team consists of 38 vets (of which 13 are small animal), with an experienced support team of RVNs and nursing assistants.

The Role:

We are ideally looking for an experienced and enthusiastic vet, skilled in general consultations and surgery, in our small animal, first-opinion hospital practice.  The candidate must be able to deal with a wide variety of cases, and be happy to mentor junior team members as required.

The ideal candidate should have a minimum of 2-3 years experience, although this is not essential. Continuous CPD is strongly encouraged and, as most candidates will be considering further training, an RCVS certificate will be fully paid for if required.

The shifts required are flexible but would be roughly: Monday to Friday 8.30am – 5pm, plus one late night per week (to 7pm), and part of our on-call rota (1 in 10).  When on call, you must stay in the practice (accommodation on site), and will work one week of nights (no working during the day when on call). There is also a separate 1 in 10 daytime weekend rota to give the night vet respite. Following the week of nights the vets get a long 4-day weekend off; and a weekday off after the weekend of days.

Benefits package:

Benefits of working for this successful and well-respected practice are: Pension, RCVS fees, VDS cover & £1500 CPD, fully paid RCVS certificate, 29 days holiday, and Healthshield included.
