Cardiology Internship

This is a 1-year fixed term position based at the Southfields Veterinary Specialists in Essex. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of two European/RCVS Diplomate in Cardiology, with support from our multidisciplinary specialist-led team.

The successful candidate is expected to have completed a general internship at a multidisciplinary specialist-led centre and have work experience in UK first opinion practice. Enthusiasm and strong interest in cardiology are paramount.  Previous cardiology experience, cardiology publication and research are desirable, but not essential 

The Cardiology and Cardiopulmonary service is a rapidly expanding service and team including a dedicated cardiology nurse with additional support from the wider team.

A caseload comprises of secondary and tertiary comprises of all types of cardiology cases and interventional procedures. Some respiratory cases are currently shared with the internal medicine team. There is day to day direct interaction and sharing of cases with other specialist-led services such as internal medicine, oncology, ECC, surgery, neurology, imaging and anaesthesia.

The service is very well equipped with a E95 Vivid machine (with 4 different probes including a transoesophageal probe and echopacs software), digital 12 lead ECG, a new state-of-the-art and OEC General Electric fluoroscopy unit and several Holters with the capability of advanced Holter analysis in-house.

Southfields Veterinary Specialist is moving to new large premises in 2020 and ECG gated CT and MRI with cardiac software will also be available then.

The successful candidate will be expected to start on January 1^st 2020 and will overlap with the current cardiology intern. Applications will be accepted until 30/11/2019 and interviews are expected to occur in the week of 02/12/2019.
