We are seeking to appoint the Founding Head of the Aberystwyth School of Veterinary Science to lead future developments in veterinary training and research. This is a permanent professorial post with the concomitant appointment to Head of School being for 5 years in the first instance, subject to renewal.

The school will be part of the Institute of Biological, Environmental and Rural Sciences (IBERS), a world-class research, enterprise and education centre with 100 years of research experience in animal health.

Aberystwyth University was founded in 1872 and since that date has established a reputation for excellence in teaching and research.

This is reflected in the award of TEF Gold status, becoming the first university to be awarded University of the Year for Teaching Quality two years running (2018 and 2019), and in being named Welsh University of the Year in the Times Good University Guide in 2020.

The successful candidate will be a qualified veterinarian and provide leadership in teaching, management and research in the field of veterinary sciences, building upon IBERS strengths in animal health and nutrition. The individual will be expected to be the course leader and to lecture on the exciting Joint bachelor’s in veterinary science programme that has been developed between the Aberystwyth School of Veterinary Science and the Royal Veterinary College.
