The London Interdisciplinary Biosciences Consortium (LIDo) is an immensely successful collaborative partnership offering world-class interdisciplinary research across the breadth of BBSRC scientific remit.

In 2020 LIDo will be offering three scholarships for students looking to join, world-class specialist institution, the Royal Veterinary College. A range of topics are on offer that will be of interest to biomedical science and veterinary graduates.

Scholarships are for 4 years and provide a stipend and home/EU* tuition fees. Students will be full members of the LIDo programme taking advantage of the considerable benefits of this unique consortium whilst embedded in the expert environment of the RVC.

Exemplar projects are detailed on the website. http://lido-dtp.ac.uk/lido-rvc-studentships.html

It may also be possible for the successful candidates to develop a project with RVC supervisors. The deadline for applications is FRIDAY 24th JANUARY

In the first year of the programme DTP students will undertake two 4-month research projects, each associated with a thesis project.  The choice of PhD topic is finalised after the second rotation project when students will be well placed to make an informed, considered, decision.

Research opportunities are available in a wide range of areas including, but not limited to Ageing, Animal Health and Welfare, Crop, Plant and Soil Sciences, Immunology, Biotechnology, Microbiology and Microbial Food Safety, Neuroscience, Structural, Synthetic and Systems Biology.

DTP students undertake a compulsory 3-month Professional Internship for PhD Students (PIPS) during their PhD. This placement provides experience of the wider economic and social contexts and careers within which the research and transferable skills developed during their PhD programme can be usefully employed. Current students have secured a diverse range of placements at institutions, both in the UK and overseas, including learned societies, museums, biotech companies, and science communication and policy organisations.
