Qualified Veterinary Nurse/ Veterinary Nurse Assistance

Start date: with immediate effect 

Working hours: Mon-Fri 9-6, with a half day 9-12.30 on a day that is negotiated with you.

We have a weekend rota depending on number of inpatients.

Qualification & Experience: Qualified veterinary nurse, have had experience working in a veterinary practice, has done animal management/animal health courses, aspiring veterinary nurse students.

Duties: Ability to manage and assist with operations, Care of animals preoperatively, post-operatively and knowledge of overall animal health care in varying settings. Diligent and aware of importance of good record keeping.

Specific knowledge required: In areas of anaesthetic, x-ray, blood machines, scans, care of animals in isolation, setting up & monitoring infusion drips, dispensing of medications, injections, monitoring infusion drips. Good record keeping.

General information: We are a family friendly mixed animal (both large & small) rural veterinary practice -we are 24 miles North of Belfast, situated in a central location, about an hour to the North coast and 25 minutes to the airport. We are looking for a qualified veterinary nurse who can work individually and support the vets. In addition, if they can be involved with teaching and assisting aspiring students within the Practice who are keen to pursue veterinary nursing.

We will consider an experienced nurse who has worked in veterinary practices, and are willing to be part of a team and have vast knowledge in caring for animals, and is aware of the importance of the general upkeep of the animals and their surroundings.
