Our client, a prestigious Government Organisation in the Sultanate of Oman, invites applications for the post of Veterinary Pathologist.

Duties of the post:

  • Perform necropsies and histopathological examinations, record and interpret lesions. This includes serving as case coordinator on complex multi-sample submissions by compiling / correlating pathology and all ancillary test findings suggesting alternative testing as needed, and communicating those conclusions and diagnosis to the veterinarians.
  • Participate in investigative field studies individually or with a group of diagnosticians as needed.
  • All work shall be performed in accordance with validated test methods, SOPs, procedures, employee training, proficiency and equipment standards as applicable.
  • Ensure adherence and compliance with quality assurance procedures.
  • All work shall be performed to avoid exposure to hazards which are avoidable by adherence to reasonable and approved methods.
  • Foster laboratory teamwork, co-operation, professional standards and communications.
  • Maintain an awareness of scientific developments in
    diagnostic veterinary medicine pertaining to diagnostic pathology. Study applicable scientific literature to maintain an awareness of developments in diagnostic medicine to offer state of the art diagnostic testing / services and promote efficient use of the histopathology and clinical pathology laboratory services to practitioners.
  • Utilise emerging technology to offer new / improved tests to aid in the diagnosis of production and disease related problems encountered by producers and veterinarians.
  • Participation in continuing efforts to better educate the laboratory staff and veterinarians relative to improving their diagnostic skills and awareness of the state of the art testing and interpretations.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

The ideal applicant will meet the following criteria:

  • DVM or an equivalent degree from an accredited institution and MVSc or PhD in Veterinary Pathology.
  • Five years of related experience in diagnostic pathology is desirable.
  • Excellent organisational, oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others in a multi-cultural environment.
