Delivered in partnership with the College of Animal Welfare, our programme in Veterinary Nursing is accredited by the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons, and a key focus of our course is to build our students’ professional experience to prepare them for the workplace.

Our full-time BSc (Hons) programme delivers the key clinical and theoretical skills required for professional registration as a Veterinary Nurse. We also offer a top-up BSc/BSc (Hons) degree programme for registered Veterinary Nurses to enable them to enhance their career
prospects through the development of deeper subject knowledge and key graduate attributes sought by employers. We are also seeking to build our research capacity in veterinary science to complement ongoing research within Applied Sciences, but also to ensure that our students are inspired by research-informed teaching and evidence-based practice.

This brings an exciting opportunity for a Lecturer in Veterinary Nursing to join our team and help develop the next generation of Veterinary Nurses.

The role

We are looking to appoint a candidate who will develop and deliver high-quality teaching and assessment to support our programmes in Veterinary Nursing, which includes modules in Clinical Nutrition and Pharmacology, Supporting the Supply of Veterinary Medicines (Suitably Qualified Persons) and Applied Animal Behaviour, as well as others. The successful applicant will also be involved in supervising and supporting student research project work, as well as other relevant teaching, and contributing to the leadership of the provision. This comes with development of a sustainable research portfolio to complement and extend our existing strengths in Life Sciences and related fields of expertise within the School.

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for individuals who have a passion for education, who will commit to enhancement and innovation in teaching and contribute to development and leadership of programmes/modules. Essential to this position is a doctorate level qualification.

Candidates should have experience of development and leadership of teaching and assessment at different undergraduate levels and we are particularly interested in people with experience of working either directly within the veterinary industry or with strong veterinary links.

Aligned to one of our academic pathways, candidates will be keen to develop their research portfolio, working collaboratively across the University and with external partners across academia and the veterinary industry.
