Lanes Vets, Lancashire
Due to expansion and the opening of a fourth branch practice a further opportunity has arisen to join our well-established friendly team of vets, nurses and support staff in beautiful rural Lancashire.
We are an independent RCVS tier 2 accredited practice based in Garstang, situated on the edge of the Trough of Bowland (AONB), with easy access to the cities of Lancaster and Preston and less than an hour from Manchester, Liverpool and the Lake District. We currently have 2 branches situated in Lancaster and Poulton-Le-Fylde with a new branch opening in Cottam, North Preston this autumn. We hold three outstanding standard RCVS awards in the areas of client care, teamwork and outpatient consulting and pride ourselves on our friendly, caring and supportive atmosphere that make Lanes such a great place to work and develop your career. The number of returning EMS students we have working for us is testament to this.
Our excellent clinical standards are achieved through case continuity, teamwork & communication and the use of evidence–based medicine. New graduates, as well as vets returning to practice after a break can benefit from tailored mentoring from our experienced vets to help settle in to the job and gain confidence quickly. We have in house certificate holders in dermatology, diagnostic imaging, small animal surgery and also a diplomate in ophthalmology as well as visiting specialists in dentistry and cardiology, all of whom are happy to give advice or take on a case if necessary as a referral. Development and sharing of special interests is encouraged and extra funding is available for someone wishing to take further qualifications.
Support is available also from the whole team via our clinical WhatsApp group, regular SA vet meetings and bimonthly clinical club (with chippy tea!). CPD is important to us with a generous CPD allowance with extra available for those wishing to study for a relevant certificate.
The job is a full-time post consisting of a 4 day week and weekend/OOH work shared equally between 10 vets. We have experienced, dedicated night nurses who answer the telephone and triage OOH calls as well providing round the clock care for our inpatients so there are no annoying 3am conversations about worm treatments!
Starting salary is £31k for new graduates increasing to £50k depending experience plus basic £1500k CPD allowance, 24 days holiday plus bank holidays and 5 days CPD. This is a great job but please don’t take our word for it. Please give us a ring and have a chat with one of our current vets.
