Bristol Vet School is looking to invest in the next generation of Veterinary Clinical academic researchers, and we’re seeking a dynamic individual to pioneer this activity. The successful applicant will be an outstanding clinician who is on track to develop and lead a cutting-edge research
programme whilst still engaging in specialist clinical activity.
The School is going through a period of exciting change, driven by the implementation of a new research strategy, and we are looking to expand our critical research mass in our priority areas through strategic hiring of a qualified veterinarian who has completed PhD level training and has
aspirations of becoming a leading clinical academic in the future, but is yet to complete specialist clinical training and board certification. This is an excellent opportunity for a talented veterinarian to undertake postdoctoral-level research with the expectation that they will apply
and be competitive for substantive, prestigious fellowships such as those offered by the MRC or the Wellcome Trust, with the long-term goal of becoming an independent clinical academic.
During this 5 year appointment, you will also be supported in undertaking specialist clinical training with registration with the relevant European or American College. This post will both complement our research programmes and spearhead new lines of collaborative research, innovation and impact.
You will be able to work in collaboration with Langford Veterinary Services, accessing both the clinical caseload and clinical facilities for research and training.
For an informal discussion about the post, please contact: Professor Richard Hammond, Head of School, Bristol Veterinary School via email at hos-svs@bristol.ac.uk
We welcome applications from all members of our community and are particularly encouraging those from diverse groups, such as members of the LGBT+ and BAME communities, to join us.
