The Equine Veterinary Medical Center (EVMC) is a state of the art equine hospital located in the heart of Al Shaqab and Qatar Foundation’s Education City, in Doha, Qatar. The hospital is equipped with a 3T MRI, CT-scan, nuclear scintigraphy and the latest technology in radiology. The hospital has 2 operating theaters, a well-equipped farrier shop, and lameness examination areas on three surfaces. Other specialized medical services at EVMC include internal medicine/ neonatal ICU, theriogenology, and anesthesiology/ pain management. In addition, EVMC consists of a world-class veterinary diagnostic laboratory, including necropsy services.

EVMC is seeking applicants to fill four short term vacancies for Equine Veterinary Interns:

This is an amazing opportunity to develop existing skills and learn new ones under the guidance of our team of specialists and highly experienced practitioners. The rotating internship offers a unique and exciting opportunity to work with board certified diplomats in surgery, anesthesia, internal medicine, pathology and radiology, and a dedicated reproduction team, to grow your skill set in a fast paced hospital. As the only hospital of our kind in the State of Qatar, we offer services not only to the estimated 1000 world class Arabian horses at the Al Shaqab stud, but to all horses in the country, including international sport horses competing at the Al Shaqab stadium, located just minutes from the hospital.

Interns will rotate through the major specialties, working alongside a full team of assistants, nurses and experienced vets, to foster critical thinking, clinical decision-making, and technical proficiency. Interns will participate in the provision of out-of-hours care, with the support of the rest of the team. There may also be opportunities to take advantage of the fully equipped research lab on site to participate in clinical or benchtop projects, for candidates looking to secure competitive academic residencies. 

Qualifications and experience:  To qualify for this position you must have a veterinary degree (DMV or equivalent), 0-2 years of experience and a strong background in equine practice. The ideal candidate would be motivated to continue onto residency or similar further training and must have an interest in experiencing life in the Gulf.
