Southern Counties Veterinary Specialists is a busy multi-disciplinary referral centre in the heart of the New Forest. We are committed to providing a high standard of patient care, with specialist services in medical oncology, soft tissue and orthopaedic surgery, internal medicine, anaesthesia and analgesia, neurology, cardiology, dermatology and imaging.

We are looking for a medical oncology intern to join our friendly and passionate team, where you will work under the direct supervision of two DipACVIM Oncology diplomates and be involved in a wide variety of challenging and interesting cases.

The medical oncology service at Southern Counties Veterinary Specialists is a recent and rapidly growing service. We are looking for a highly motivated team player who is keen and enthusiastic in helping to develop and build the growing team. You will have the opportunity to receive training and gain experience in the management of medical oncology cases in a multi-disciplinary referral environment. You will be expected to help with the daily care of all the medical oncology patients and client communications, participate actively in weekly medical oncology journal clubs, and work on a research project towards a peer-reviewed publication. The post would be particularly suitable for those wishing to pursue further training in medical oncology, such as a residency.

The successful candidate would have completed a rotation small animal internship, have excellent interpersonal skills, be highly committed and compassionate, be able to work well in a busy referral environment, and be fluent in the English language. Candidates must also be members of the RCVS or eligible for membership.

This position provides a salary of £22,330 per annum, holiday allowance of 28 days inc BHs, a 52 week contract and CPD of £1,500 and 5 days. The internship will be for a period of 12 months, commencing July 2019 / to be confirmed with the successful applicant.
