Bristol Veterinary School is seeking to recruit a dynamic and outstanding research-active academic in the area of Sustainable Dairy Production with the capacity to link with and enhance one or both School’s strategic research themes of Population Health and Global Food Security.

You will work collaboratively linking the new John Oldacre Centre for Sustainability and Welfare in Dairy Production with the capability of our strategic partner Rothamsted Research at the North Wyke Farm Platform (the latter especially in environmental emission capability in beef and sheep).

Areas of research will focus on sustainable dairy production in relation
to nutrition and environmental impact. The research will elucidate the position of dairy production in a changing local, national and international climate linking with current skill sets in Bristol Veterinary School (animal health, antimicrobial resistance, animal welfare, economic assessment) and sustainability research at Rothamsted Research as a joint appointment (part funded through the Soil to Nutrition project on-behalf of Rothamsted). Opportunities will be available to grow national links through the Centre for Innovation Excellence in Livestock (CIEL) and international links through the Global Farm Platform, accessing both Industry Strategy Challenge Fund (ISCF) and Global Challenge Research Fund (GCRF) funding strategies.

You will have a strong track record of publication and grant funding success on a clear upward trajectory.

You will be expected to develop and consolidate a research group in this area, forge collaborations with colleagues not only at North Wyke and the Veterinary School, but wider across University of Bristol, Rothamsted Research and externally, will teach on the School’s undergraduate and taught postgraduate courses and supervise Postgraduate research students.

Appointment will be at Lecturer, Senior Lecturer, Reader or Professor.

You will be based at Bristol Veterinary School on the University of Bristol’s Langford campus, within the Faculty of Health Sciences, with time spent on research collaboration at the North Wyke Farm Platform.
