Bristol Veterinary School is seeking to recruit a dynamic and outstanding research-active faculty member in the area of Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) with the capacity to link with and enhance one or both School’s strategic research themes of Population Health and Global Food Security.

Antimicrobial Resistance research at the University of Bristol has grown over the last five years into an integrated, multi-disciplinary community of over 100 researchers spanning all research faculties and winning significant research income from the Cross-UK Research Council AMR initiative, placing Bristol as the UK leader in terms of value of cross-Council AMR awards.

This post will work collaboratively with the applied experience of Bristol Veterinary School’s sector leading research group, the AMR Force. The post is expected to capitalise on current and expected funding in the
area of AMR, working jointly not only with researchers in the AMR Force but also with colleagues across the University and externally. Depth and breadth of knowledge in an academic discipline which supports the development of new knowledge and understanding in the field of AMR
research are essential. Areas of research may include microbiology, microbial genetics, small animal antimicrobial usage or AMR, questions related to AMR in lower- and middle-income countries or others.

Opportunities will be available to grow national links through the Centre for Innovation Excellence in Livestock (CIEL), DEFRA and industry bodies as well as international links, accessing Industrial Strategy Challenge Fund (ISCF), Global Challenge Research Fund (GCRF), cross-Council AMR
funds and other funding strategies. The AMR research landscape in Bristol is exceptional in its breadth and multi-disciplinarity; it presents great opportunities for researchers to further build capabilities in this area.

You will have a strong track record of publication and grant funding success on a clear upward trajectory.

You will be expected to develop and consolidate a research group in this area, forging collaborations internally and externally, and will teach on the School’s undergraduate and taught postgraduate courses as well as supervise postgraduate research students.

Appointment will be at Lecturer, Senior Lecturer, Reader or Professor. Please refer to the relevant job descriptions for further information.

The post is based at Bristol Veterinary School on the University of Bristol’s Langford campus, within the Faculty of Health Sciences.

Informal enquiries can be made to Professor Richard Hammond, Head of School, Bristol Veterinary School, Tel: 0117 928 9638
email: hos-svs@bristol.ac.uk

We appreciate and value difference, seeking to attract, develop and retain a diverse mix of talented people that will contribute to the overall success of Bristol and help maintain our position as one of the world’s leading universities.
