Reporting to: Head of Neurology
Term: 1-year fixed term
Hours: Full time, plus participation in the ‘out of hours’ rota
Internship start date: October 2019

Anderson Moores Veterinary Specialists Ltd is a busy, multi-disciplinary, referral-only small animal hospital in Hampshire, UK committed to providing the highest standards of patient care and has an expanding programme of post-graduate training (internships and residencies). We have a varied caseload of unusual and challenging cases and a close-knit enthusiastic team. We continue to expand our clinical services and believe in a team approach to challenging cases.

We have just opened a Neurology/Neurosurgery Intern position for 1 year. The intern will be supervised and work in daily contact with four Neurologists supported by RCVS, European and American Specialist clinicians in a wide range of disciplines (anaesthesia, cardiology, dermatology, diagnostic imaging, internal medicine, orthopaedics, soft tissue surgery and physiotherapy).

Our hospital contains all the facilities expected of an advanced referral hospital including 1.5T MRI, 64 Slice CT, electrophysiology equipment, a full range of neurosurgical equipment, fluoroscopy, video-endoscopy, and minimally-invasive and orthopaedic surgical equipment.

The Neurology Intern will work under the supervision of the Neurologists and will be involved in the daily care of patients, consultations, diagnostic procedures, and neurosurgeries. The neurology intern will also be encouraged to be involved in clinical research. This internship will be ideally suited for someone with previous general practice experience and also some experience in neurology, and with an interest in pursuing a Residency in Neurology and Neurosurgery. The internship will mainly provide training in clinical neurology, neurosurgery, electrodiagnostic, and neuroimaging.

We strongly support ongoing training and CPD and as a member of our team you will receive a competitive salary and a benefits package which includes private health care, reimbursement of pet insurance, Pets at Home discount and a company pension scheme.

Anderson Moores is located in a rural setting but close to national and international transport links (Heathrow, Southampton and Bournemouth airports, direct train links to London and the Midlands) and easy access to the south coast for recreational activities.

Candidates must be:
• MRCVS or hold a veterinary degree registrable with the RCVS
• Eligible to work in the United Kingdom.

Applicants to the Neurology internship will be selected on the basis of their written application, an interview and referee reports. Applicants should preferably have successfully completed a 12-month rotating internship and have experience in small animal practice in the UK.

The successful candidate will be expected to start in October 2019.

Please note that due to the location of our practice and the ‘on call’ responsibilities, having your own transport would be an advantage.
