Bull Stud Veterinarian – Ruthin

Full time, Fixed Term Contract up to 18 months

The Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Vet to join the Genus ABS Veterinary Team based at our globally qualified bovine stud in Ruthin, North Wales.

We are proud to provide clinical care to some of the most valuable bulls in the industry. This role provides an excellent mix of clinical and office-based work and our handling systems and H&S protocols are industry leading. As a Centre Vet you are responsible for all aspects of the bulls’ management with particular emphasis on the health and welfare of the bulls, as well as the stud’s biosecurity and disease prevention protocols. We export UK produced semen around the globe and in this role, you will play an integral part in maximising exports to current markets and developing export opportunities in new markets.

You will work as part of an enthusiastic and dedicated team and be responsible for maintaining close relationships with the veterinary practices who provide our out of hours cover.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • To provide veterinary care to the bulls in the Genus UK herd and to ensure the highest levels of welfare for the animals under your care. To ensure the highest levels of biosecurity are sustained at all sites. To maintain and develop our disease prevention and surveillance protocols. To maximise export opportunities from the UK to current markets and to help identify and develop export opportunities in new markets To respond to all internal and external customer calls/enquiries in a timely manner.

The Candidate

The ideal candidate will:

  • An MRCVS or equivalent qualification Excellent communication skills are necessary as is the ability to work under their own initiative and with minimal supervision An interest in disease surveillance, prevention and control A willingness to learn about all areas of the business Holder of current valid UK driving licence Excellent organisation and prioritisation skills  Positive attitude to change and demonstrate desire to learn new things and be involved in new tasks/activities/products/projects
