Equine Reproduction Veterinary Surgeon Required.
Exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic equine vet with a particular interest in reproduction to work with some top quality showjumpers and broodmares.
Oakingham Stud are looking for an in-house vet to perform stud and normal equine practice duties including vaccinations, colics, lameness work ups, wounds, young horse radiography. State of the art equipment at your disposal including wireless X-ray machine, ultrasound scanner and endoscope. Chance to work as part of a team looking after around 50 competition horses, 30 broodmares, and 120 young horses.
An interest in foaling as well as routine mare and foal management will be required. Reproduction work will include routine scanning, inseminating with chilled and frozen semen, and embryo flushing/transfer if experienced in this area. There will be scope for shadowing more experienced vets coming in to perform embryo transfer and more complicated lameness work ups.
This job would suit someone 3-5 years qualified who wants to gain experience in all areas of equine practice and particularly stud medicine. Would be ideal for someone studying for a Cert AVP Stud Medicine. On site accommodation and vehicle provided. Salary commensurate with experience. RCVS membership paid and cpd allowance provided.
