We have a vacancy in our friendly, independent 8 vet 2 centre mixed practice, based at our main centre in Oldmeldrum. We are situated 15 miles from Aberdeen city centre and just 10 miles from Aberdeen International Airport.
Our practice is 45% SA, 40% LA and 15% EQ. We are an RCVS accredited practice for SA, FA and EQ.
We're looking for a small animal only or mixed vet to help continue improving our services.
The normal working day is 8 till 5 pm, with 1 night a week on-call and evening surgery till 6.30 pm. The rest of the rota is 1 weekend in 4 and 1 Saturday morning in 8, there are always 2 vets on call, 1 from each centre.
Our truly mixed practice is well equipped for small animal with large operating theatre, colour-Doppler ultrasound, digital x-ray, in-house lab, endoscopy, extensive orthopaedic kit including, locking plates and screws, TPLO and TTA-rapid. We are a vet nurse training centre.
Equine: There is ample 1st opinion equine work also available if desired. General equine work is to a high standard supported by an equine certificate holder.
Work includes dentistry - power rasps, diastema drilling, molar extractions. Lameness work ups, utilising digital x-ray, new ultrasound machine and PrP for joint injections and general equine medicine. There are 2 loose boxes used at the Oldmeldrum branch for on-site working.
Farm: Farm work is carried out to a high standard with a good mix of dairy, beef and sheep work. Health planning using SAHHPS, Easiscans, and Interherd is routinely carried out and up to date equipment including portable ultrasound machines, bull testing kit and even portable Xray are utilised in day to day visits.
Oldmeldrum is in an excellent location. 15 miles from Aberdeen it is rural while being well connected to transport links. The local beaches are renowned for surfing and the Cairngorms are only an hour’s drive away for walking, climbing or skiing in the winter.
Aberdeen is Europe's oil capital and the oil and gas industry is still a huge part of the local economy. Airline connections to the rest of the UK and beyond are excellent and there are good rail links from Inverurie nearby.
