Ours is not a job that is going to suit everyone.
If you do not cope well with variety in your workload then stop reading now.
If you want a job where you turn up, work to someone else’s rules and then go home, you are probably not right for us.
If you absolutely can’t live without Costa, Starbucks, Nando’s, Waitrose,
Next, M&S, and Virgin Active Gyms then Orkney may not be the place for you.

………..or even this
Whether you are a new graduate or an experienced practitioner you will be well supported in your day to day work and encouraged to pursue your own interests in professional development.
We understand how important family and life outside of work is.
So – let’s talk about the whole living-in-Orkney thing.
Where are we, and what is it like here? You have probably heard of and seen all the stories of people going from Land’s End to John O’Groats - because John O’Groats is as far as you can go. We are a short ferry journey north of John O’Groats.
In fact we are also well-served by air services so in an hour or less you can be n Aberdeen, Edinburgh or Glasgow with connections to just about anywhere else in the world. Four ferry routes serve us from mainland Scotland and Shetland.
We don’t have all the big High Street names but we still get by, with fabulous local businesses.
If you absolutely can’t get through your day without a flat white or a skinny latte with an extra shot then you have lots of choice – you http://www.judithglue.com Or here http://www.wrigleyandthereel.com/
We may not have a Waitrose or a Sainsbury’s but if you can’t get hat you want in the decent-sized Tesco, Co-op and Lidl then you can always try here http://eflettbutcher.co.uk/ or here http://www.williamshearer.co.uk/
If you are the sporty type then you can work out here:
And/or you can get involved with one of our many local sporting teams or clubs - our population is over 22,000 so there is lots going on!
See Orkney - Riding Club, Rugby, Hockey, Netball, Badminton, Football, Karate, Triathlon, Surfing, Diving, Bowling, Shooting, Kayaking, Archery, Climbing, Cycling, Darts, Dog Agility etc etc
If music is your thing then we have thriving traditional and classical music scenes

We have more history than you can shake a stick at
We have fantastic high quality food production: with our agriculture; active farming community; grasslands supporting world renowned beef cattle; cheeses, ice-cream, seafood and fishing from lochs and sea; local whisky, gins and beers.
It can sometimes be a little breezy
In the winter the compensation for a late night call out to a calving can be driving home under a sky like this :
As you can maybe tell, we are very proud of our practice and our very special island home. If you think you would like to join us in both, then why not talk to us about it?
We offer a competitive salary and package according to experience.
