The Position

We are seeking a permanent anesthetist supervisor. This role is diverse and can be individually tailored for suitable applicants.  Experience in equine anaesthesia is necessary and experience in small animal anaesthesia is advantageous.

This role offers:

  • 3-4 days in equine anaesthesia.
  • Supervision of all anaesthesia processes and procedures in Scone.
  • Training of interns and support from senior veterinarians with extensive anaesthesia experience. Coordination of this team for the majority of routine cases.
  • Support and training of anaesthesia when required at Pet Medical. Pet Medical is our associated small animal practice with 4 clinics in the Upper Hunter and Sydney
  • Support and training when required of anaesthesia in our clinics in Avenel (Victoria) and Tamworth.
  • Attendance at relevant seminars and conferences (this will be supported by the business).
  • Continuing education will be supported by the business.
  • Opportunity to work in other areas of our group, beyond anaethesia, depending on your professional interests.
  • Flexibility to work reduced days/hours depending on outside interests e.g. family, sport, hobbies. We encourage our veterinarians to pursue their passions.
  • Lifestyle friendly on call roster of approximately one in four.
  • Salary base: $100, 000 - $150, 000.

Selection Criteria

  • The position would suit a person who has a passion for anaesthesia but also wants the freedom and renumeration associated with a private practice.
  • It is necessary for the applicant to meet the necessary requirements to be fully registered as a veterinarian in New South Wales, Australia. For further information, please contact the Veterinary Practitioners Board of New South Wales www.vpb.nsw.gov.au. This is imperative to ensure that you are covered by the practice’s professional indemnity cover.
  • The position does not require you to have completed a residency in anaesthesia, although this would be advantageous.
  • Applicants who are only eligible for limited registration will not be considered for the position.

The Location

Based in the Upper Hunter town of Scone we are located in the heart of the thoroughbred breeding industry. This is a beautiful part of rural Australia located close to Tamworth and other major rural centres. Sydney and the beaches of the central coast are just 3 hours away.
