Cornwall Farm and Equine Practice

Kenwyn Vets are  friendly and motivated 5 vet team who enjoy a mix of farm and equine work. We thrive on input from all, and we are looking for someone to complement our team and progress in all aspects of daily veterinary life.

Our area covers central Cornwall from the beach and surf on the north coast and sailing to boating on the south, and is in lovely countryside. We serve dairy, beef and sheep farmers and perform regular fertility visits, and are closely involved in herd health planning. We cover a broad range of equine disciplines and types, and work up a broad range of cases. We even have  our very own experienced camelid vet. Though mainly ambulatory, we have generous purpose built practice premises for performing investigations and surgery, which also enables us to sort our vehicles undercover, liase with colleagues, and drink tea. We are equipped with easiscans, digital radiography, battery HDE dental kit, endoscope, interherd+ and Equinosis Q Lameness Locator. Our support staff are great and skilled in helping and supporting throughout the day.

The practice is in lovely Truro, a social and active cathedral city with cinema, pubs, sports and eateries and makes a great base to explore Cornwall. Mainline station, local airport and main road link close to our practice allows for trips ‘up country`.

A farm or equine bias is willingly supported through training and CPD as we all have areas of interest and this is particularly encouraged. We welcome those with experience, but aptitude, interest and enthusiasm equally as important. We have a proven track record of supporting new and recent graduates and have produced some great clinicians.

Our rota is shared evenly between four so we have a regular weekday night on duty, half days, 5 weeks holiday plus bank hols, and we pay RCVS subs and BVA membership. We offer a competitive salary depending on experience and skills, and supply a vehicle, either estate or double cab depending on preference. Accommodation is available if required.

This is a permanent position, but a  shorter term may also be possible‎. Happy to chat about any aspect of the position, as well as life as a practice vet in Cornwall.
