Building a foundation for the future

Applications are invited for an individual to enter our structured one year Internship programme, starting on Monday 1st July 2019. We currently have a team of eight rotating interns, with plans to increase numbers in the future.

Willows is one of the leading multi-disciplinary specialist referral practices in the UK.

Our Interns enter a detailed training programme during which they assist in the throughput of our orthopaedic, spinal, ophthalmic, neurological,
medical, oncological, cardiology, dermatology and soft tissue patients, as well as helping with their ongoing management and care. There are also structured rotations in our emergency and critical care, anaesthesia, and imaging departments. Intern responsibilities include assisting the on-duty nursing staff with out-of-hours night and weekend duties, incorporating the provision of an emergency service for primary clinic patients.

Applicants should be highly motivated and have excellent communication skills – a very good command of spoken and written English is essential. Candidates should have had at least two years’ post-graduation experience of working in small animal practice, preferably in the UK, and be keen to join a friendly team environment which is dedicated to the provision of the highest level of care for our patients and our clients, whether they be pet owners or referring veterinary surgeons.

We have a strong track record of interns going on to undertake specialist training in different disciplines.

To this end, interns are mentored and supported in undertaking clinical research, presentations and publications.

We offer a competitive salary and the package also includes structured in-house training, time off and a generous allowance for CPD, a company pension scheme and access to an Employee Assistance Programme. Willows has a strong ethos of looking after staff members, and staff members looking after one another. We hold the Investors in People award at the extended Silver level.

The deadline for application is Friday 15th February 2019. Interviews will be held on Friday 1st March 2019.
