Job Details

Our Veterinary Surgeon and Partner, Fred McKenzie, is looking for an enthusiastic, professional individual to join his happy two-Vet team on a full time basis.

Our practice opened in 2011, and over the last seven years we have built up a loyal client base.

You will be joining our business owner and employed vet as we look to expand our Vet team in 2019. Our team comprises of an experienced Head Nurse, two qualified Nurses, two 3 rd year Student Nurses, and a first year Nurse student in addition to our non-clinical team. We are firm believers in investing in people, so would be keen to support the right candidate with professional development.

We have recently invested in a refurbishment of our waiting area to improve our client experience and in 2018, added dental x-ray and Multiparameter facilities to support our surgical caseload.

Due to the capabilities within the team and the age of the practice, our caseload is varied with no two days being the same. Therefore we have the opportunity to add a vet with either surgical or a medical preference to our team to complement the existing skills. Above all you should be happy consulting and meeting our clients on a day to day basis however no OOH work is required.

Farnborough is situated in northeast Hampshire near the boundary with Surrey. It is located 34 miles (55 km) southwest of London which is easily accessible by car or train and 16 miles (26 km) east of Basingstoke.

Farnborough is served by three train stations giving access into London, and to the South including directly to Gatwick Airport for easy access to Europe. Being situated near to the South Downs National Park with its large rural areas and only an hour from the south coast, makes this an ideal location for those wishing to combine urban convenience with rural and coastal access.

As a purpose built small animal practice, the surgery is equipped with modern surgical and diagnostic equipment including digital x-ray, ultrasound, Idexx catalyst analyser, diathermy, lactate analyser and Cardiopet ECG among other equipment.

This exciting opportunity would suit someone looking to take the next step in their career as CPD is strongly encouraged, supported and fully funded.

The role is full time with weekends on a rota basis (1:3) which will be sole charge.

The successful applicant will have great people skills, a good general surgical and medical background and will work well in a team. You must also have good communication skills and enjoy building relationships
with clients, the patients and the practice team.

In return, the practice offers:

  • Competitive salary
  • Generous CPD
  • Contributory pension scheme
  • Paid memberships (RCVS, VDS and BVA)
  • Exclusive colleague discounts
  • Friendly and supportive work environment

We are an Equal Opportunities Employer.
